Diet and Exercise - Still the Best Way to Get a Fast Six Pack

ByBenjamin Luke

The truth is that everyone already has a six pack. The main problem is that it is covered by layers of fat so it is usually not visible. In order to have a visible six pack, you need to lose excess weight. The best way to get a fast six pack is to follow a good diet and exercise program.

Diet

Diet is definitely the most important part of any weight loss program. To lose weight and get rid of the fat covering the abdominal muscles, you need to create a daily calorie deficit of around 300-500 calories. To put it differently, 300 calories is the equivalent of a large cup of specialty coffee, a large slice of pizza or a cup of ice cream.

One of the secrets Hollywood stars use to get a fast six pack is to eat five or more small meals per day. This increases the metabolism and helps control food cravings by keeping you full all the time. Avoid high fat, processed and high calorie foods. Include fruits and vegetables because these foods are high in fiber which makes you feel full longer. Also, include lean protein in every meal because it helps keep you full and considerably increases metabolism. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day since it also helps control hunger and raises metabolism.

Exercise

Doing hundreds of repetitions of abdominal exercises is worthless if the abdominal muscles are covered by a layer of fat. To get a fast six pack, combine weight training with cardiovascular exercise. Weight training is proven to raise the metabolism up to two days after the session. On the other hand, cardiovascular exercise burns a high amount of calories in a small amount of time.

Weight training workouts should be done at least two times a week. For fastest weight loss, circuit training is the best form of weight training. It combines weight training with cardiovascular exercise for the best of both worlds. Circuit training is done by performing weight training exercises for different body parts one after another with little or no rest in between. Abdominal exercises can be included in the circuit or done separately before or after the circuit training workout.

Cardiovascular exercise should be done at least three times a week. It can be alternated to days when you are doing weight training. It can also be done after a weight training session if possible. A cardiovascular workout should be at least 25 minutes per session. Make sure that your heart rate significantly increases in order to experience optimum results.

Getting a visible six pack quickly involves diet and exercise, cliché right? But sometimes, people tend to ignore the simplest rule. Stop looking for shortcuts! Ignore the sweet promises of slimming products being peddled on ads all over the internet and television; instead calibrate these rules to target your goal.
